Hi,
I’m just doing a couple of arched doorways and I was thinking it would look good to put a trim around them but I’m unsure what to use and how to do the arch. I will be painting it so it needn’t have to be wood. Could I use styrofoam insulation with a couple of coats of drywall mud?
All help appreciated.

Use MDF. there is always no VOC MDF if you are concerned with VOCs. If you have a few doors you could probably build a template. Or use a circle cutting jig, and cut all the trim, in case the arc is a circle. In case of an ellipse build a template. Cut the template a little big and then sand the edges to the line. You have your template. You can cut any profile you want on the trim with a router. mdf is the choice of material for paint grade.
Check the ads in FHB, or a full service lumberyard. Flexible trim is available in a variety of profiles. Or look in the Outwater catalog on-line. I think they have it too.
