In an issue of Fine Homebuilding in the not-too-distant past there was a one-page article/review of a book that described construction quality standards for new construction. I, of course, threw it out without thinking, and I promised that I would come up with a copy. I’d very much like to get the name, autors name, ISBN number, and price for this item. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

First, promise me that you will never, ever throw away another copy
of FHB.
A search of the online FHB index shows that the _Standard Handbook
of Structural Details for Building Construction_ by Morton Newman,
was reviewed in FHB 47. The edition reviewed was four separate
paperback volumes, for masonry, concrete, wood, and steel
construction. The reviewer says they were originally published as
one volume.
A search at Barnes and Noble shows the same title back in one
hardcover volume for $79.95. The ISBN is 0070463522.
Due to limited space I usually keep and file only the articles that have a direct application on the work I am, or will be, doing.
I know that this is sacrelgious, and I should be punished.
Thanks for going to the trouble of finding this for me. I appreciate it.
From your description I don't think that was what you where talking about. In the March 2001 issue they mentioned the NAHB "Residential Construction Performance Guidelines".
There is a builder and a homeowners editions.

I think you are right Bill - this is the one I was looking for! Thanks for the reference.
Look you guys - I'm SORRY I threw out that part of the issue! Particularly because of this ragging I'm getting. I don't do it for lack of space. I do it 'cause I can never find the relevant articles when I want them. I go into the library to find some relevant detail for a project, then spend the time reading instead of working.
And Mugsy, I won't tell your wife that you are prone to exageration (mind you, she likely knows this already!)
At least you correctly remembered the mag.
I think that it was one mag from 2 years ago and when and if I every do find it, it was a a different mag from 5 years ago.
That is a lot of mags to go through and like you I start reading all of them.
This is one place I think JLC does it better. Their CDRom of past issues beats the daylights out of my 5 foot shelf of FHB. Can't we get the PeTaBees (Powers That Be, I'm a MacCaffrey fan) to do this with FHB and FWW?
You THREW IT AWAY?
You need to stop in a the tavern for true absolution and penance, my son.
You threw it away! OMG. I promised my wife that EVERYONE here has a room completely dedicated to the storage of FHB past issues. Please get with this program.
