HELP!!! I am joining an addition to my house. The addition is a 6/12 pitch and the existing is a 7/12. It is basically a ridge between the two with intersecting valleys. It is overframed on the addition and has/ or will have, a regular valley rafter in the old. It is very close to the hip on the old part.
The problem is that the valley on the new will be about 9″ above the old hip rafter at the bottom, and 9″ below at the top. Also, there will be a low pitch area near the top (4/12).
The biggest problem is that I live in Seattle and rain is two days away. My house is totally exposed on the back, so I need to put on the sheathing tomorrow.
What do I do? I saw another posting about unequal hips. Do I go with a 6.5/12?
