This is my first post, and I’m not all that handy of a gal so bear with me. We recently had a flood in our basement. The good news is, we get to re do it. The bad news is, we are having some trouble deciding what to do with one little space. There is a cut out in the wall where 4 kitchen cabinet are installed on the wall and then 2 cabinets with a counter top and our dehumidifer are. The cabinets were ruined so we are trying to decide what to do with this space. The area doesn’t have a sink and we don’t want to go to the expense of moving our plumbing to facilitate that. We are thinking a bar, kind of like it was or bookcases or something. The area is about the size of a closet but we already have so many closets down there, we’d like to do something different. You all seem handy and have great ideas. Can you help?

I know youre visualizing it but its a bit tough for me to. I think youre leaving some things out. How big is the area exactly and how big is the basement? Finished basement? How high are the ceilings? heated? Sheetrocked I assume? Is it an outside wall or interior wall? Outside wall and a finished basement for the entire family then a fireplace might be nice. Just for the kids? Then a storage area of cool bins and shelves and closets might be nice. You say a bar. Well....go for it and if its on an outside wall I'm partial to fireplaces. You can do a prefab zero clearance pretty inexpensivly. I've installed dozens in my past houses. Had four in my last house. How bout a bomb shelter...kiddingggggg! How bout an entertainment area with bar, big screen TV, lil fridge?
Be well
