My GC is unsure what I’m talking about when I have specified a hidden door in my dining room. Can anyone help. I’m talking about a door on a piano hinge(I think) that looks just like the painted drywall and has baseboard on the bottom. Unless you look closely, you never know the door exists. Does anyone know what I’m talking about and how to make them? Thanks in advance. Katie

Katie, Send him to the This Old House Website and search on the resources section. They used a hidden door recently (Billreca project?) and the hardware is listed there.
...that's not a mistake, it's rustic
Katie - It's usually called a 'jib' door. Hardware depends on the exact application. Soss Co. makes 'invisible' hinges, but they're generally not considered first-rate hardware. More info needed on what you want to see, what kind of latch, lock, material, etc. Hint: baseboard usually needs to be relieved at door joint to clear adjacent base.
