I saw this story on NBC News about a social networking site called DaveZillions.com that matches people who need assistance with a handyman repair or moving a refrigerator out of the house with people willing to donate their time. I signed up as a volunteer but am now beginning to wonder if I shouldn’t have on hand some waiver of liability in case I screw something up or someone doesn’t like my work. I’m a DIY’er, and while I’ve remodeled parts of my house, I wouldn’t want to stake my reputation on the idea that I know what the hell I’m doing. Whaddya think?

I've worked on dozens of homes, under a half-dozen different organizations, and I've never seen any waiver such as you describe. Not saying that there shouldn't be, just saying that it's not common practice.
