Hi everyone! I,ve been a cabinet maker/installer for close to 24 years now. I still love the trade! currently I’m tackling a project that requires a simple wainscott with chairail. It is similar to a shaker style. It will chase the room at 3′ hgt. My challenge is to run this detail across an interior door which is supposed to blend into the wall with no casing detail, in other words it shouldn,t look like a door. I’ve looked at Soss hinges, but they don’t give Me enough clearance on the opening. The chairail cap protrudes 1 1/2″ on the face of the door. the cap sits on top of 3/4″ frame detail applied to a flush solid door @ the 3′ hgt. Any suggestions?

A top and bottom pin pivot system. The pivot (homemade) has to be 3" - 4" in from the jamb. Scarf joint the trim at 45o. I just finished one and I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.

What McDonnell wrote but add a groove/ hollow in the jamb, which is closest to the pivot, for the rotation arc of the door.
