Hip layout without end of ridge common.
I can’t use an end of ridge common due to a truss being in the way. How would I do my layout and figure the jacks, etc. if I am not using and end of ridge common?
Thanks

Is the girder a full sized girder within the common areas of the roof or a stepped down girder landing in the hip section?
Jim i'll post a pic later so you can see it. The truss follows the pitch of the hip but then levels off at 3'.
Jim here are the pics. You can see where it will follow the 4/12 hip then levels off at 3'.
Your truss is the hip the common, just one that is cut short.
Lay out the side commons, get your ridge in place and then just measure from the end of the ridge down the the high end of the slope cut on the truss and cut a rafter .
That rafter will sit on the top chord of your truss and lay against the end of the ridge. Another method is to go along side the truss with two full length rafters. The rest of the jacks still lay out from your center point no matter which way you configure the hip end common.
They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.
Thanks Dt. I like the idea of going along side the truss, that would help me tie the top chord in and help it from rolling on axis.
What is the width/rafter span and length of your building, pitch of the roof, and what is the measurement from the outside wall to the truss?
