Anybody used the Hitachi coil siding/framing nailer? Can it really do both? My experience is a “universal” type of toll does universally nothing. Appreciate your opinions. (before you ask – yes it is raining here in Maine & I have no inside work right now.

I've had 2 Hitatchi nailers for over a year now, and they're great, rarely if ever jam, and are built solid.

I bought the combo nailer last year after several years of using just the siding nailer. I find it to be a wonderful investment. For me, I use it when i'm doing a job where I do a little framing, or just need a heavier nail to use then the standard siding nail. It is a few ounces heavier, but is balanced nice. I wouldn't use it to do strictly production framing and would go to a desiginated framing nailer. But if you do a variety of things with a need for both nailers, you can't go wrong. I've owned about every nailer Hitachi makes, and have yet to have one wuss out on me.
I've got one and feel it's good at framing and siding as well as sheathing. Holds plenty of nails so you don't have to stop to fill as often. The gun has been very reliable and has yet to jam no matter who's nails I'm using. I'm in Maine as well and have been home since 11:15 this morning. Raining hard. I did have some shop work and got a chance to give the place a cleaning. Not a total loss.
