Needs some advise please – my 5-year old in-ground vinyl pool has developed a hole in the floor (not on the side wall) below the scimmer. What can I do to either stop it from growing or to fix it?

You really have a serious problem
Why anyone would hook up the dishwasher to the pool is anyone's guess..........
Not familiar at all with pools, and even more unfamiliar w/the "vinyl" kind. Have you called the pool company?
I'm sure a patch can be made with whatever's compatible with that pool surface. Positive side is your patch will be on the proper side-the weight of the water will want to keep it down. Negative side you have to drain it, clean it, call the pool company and then repair it.
How'd the hole "develop"? Puncture from above?
There are underwater patch kits available for the vinyl pool liners.
