After leaving college I spent two years in New Jersey and then moved to Rochester, MN for a new job. I moved in August and that Thanksgiving my parents came to visit and we had a pleasant time. Then for Christmas I went home to Louisville.
I was coming back from Louisville after Christmas and walking across the tarmac at the Rochester airport. A light snow was falling and I wondered at the beauty of it. Suddenly I was overtaken by an unfamiliar sensation, and I said to myself “I’m home!” I realized that Home was no longer in Kentucky, it was in Minnesota. Though I didn’t know it yet, in the next year I would meet my future wife and would eventually have a house in the suburbs, a family, and 39 (and counting) years of being Home.
This holiday season may you find Peace and Love. And Home.
