Otherwise glad to be the first to say hi.

Man, welcome to Breaktime!
We've seen some enthusiastic intro's b/4 but believe me I'm impressed with your directed desire.
While the line of work you choose is not easy, nor quick to receive immediate rewards, I'll give you enough encouragement to give it a shot.
Best of luck!A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

I was a complete novice to the subject.. I built mine myself with very little outside help. It's someything that isn't terribly complex if you read, study, and watch other do the job properly.

You have an excellant chance to build ahead of the curve.. depending on where you are there are several techiques that can build you a better more energy efficent house.
If you are interested in saving money there are several approaches that will save a great deal and provide you with better end product..
@ frenchy, amazing work man, i am very impressed, and you're absolutely right, my aim is to build homes that are cheap to construct and run, with methods that require less skilled labour, .. i am mainly interested in building cement based constructions and to control the process of building from it's very beginning.@ calvin, thanks man, the desire to build houses (for business) has been very strong that sometimes it feels like my purpose in life haha)))currently living in london but soon will be based in libya (booming economy atm), my vision is to start a construction company that builds houses either on customer's lands or ones i buy to sell later, .. i've been working on many ideas that can achieve building homes in less time and with less money but not compromising quality. in fact some of these ideas will result in better and greener homes than the current practises of construction there, .. to do this with small budget, i've been working on designs to make my own building elements for example, here's a design to make cement blocks, http://docs.google.com/View?id=ddr6fww4_38fxwwfvc8 .. of-course having built such a machine one can easily change the mold to create varieties of blocks~ ,.. and to reduce the need for skilled labour (i.e. brick layers, etc) i've been reading about surface-bonded and dry stacked methods, .. many common elements used to build houses in europ and america are not common in libya for example drywalls, this could be such a good thing to have since skilled labour to render walls are scarce, .. im also looking into how to improve the quality of the living space inside the built homes using passive cooling and heating (& dynamic ones for better results), ... i hope this gives you a flavour of some of the things i want to do, .. your input will be very much appropriated))
Musbah, welcome! think twice about using PEX tubing for plumbing. I learned the hard way --- mice can chew through this material and pipes will leak.
