I am going to build a small free standing deck for a hot tub. Deck will be 8′ x 8′ 6″. Planning on 10 inch tubes filled with concrete sunk well below frost line. Using 4 inch pressure treated post with metal post brace sunk into concrete base. Will use (2) 2 X 12 press treated lumber for beam and 2 X 10 joists at 12 ” on center. Need to calculate how many posts and how to space them. i need to support the deck and hot tub. Was thinking either 4 or 6. Any ideas on how to calulate it. Any ideas appreciated.

A cubic foot of water weighs 62.4 pounds.
I would use 4 6x6 posts.
You need to let the rim joists/beam material into the post and not just lag bolt it alongside. So you need the extra dimension to do that.
Not sure where Dan was going with his CF weight, but it is 8#/gallon
