I know a guy who charged 750.00 to install a 40gal. hot water heater. That price did include the HWH. Home Dumpo charges around 550.00
I think 750.00 is a little excessive. Any body know any other poeples prices?

Gas or electric?
Existing installation or new?
If new is the gas line, flue and make up air or power line included in both estimates? Running lines in both cases can vary widely depending on accessibility.
If existing are any repairs necessary and is disposal of the old unit included? Are these costs represented in both cases?
Is an inspection required in your locality? Is one group including the inspection and the other not?
And why do you want to heat hot water ?
;)

make it hotter...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
In our area water heater changes must include a 2 gallon expansion tank and of course the new federally mandated style of water heater which adds $100 and a drip pan plumbed to the crawl space or ourside if on a wood floor. So our typical price is now $650 with no major changes.
Lowes is around $550. I was building a deck and a couple had them install one in the house. They re-used the same unions, valves, tank fittings. Used no dielectic fittings, no tank, no permit and still managed to take 4 hours to do a 90 minute install. Guess you get what you pay for. I do business at Lowes and talked to them about it, they said they don't use that guy anymore. DanT
