Do you mean contract labor or employee wages?
20-60$

125$ / hour for consultations, 100/hour design work, 125/hour for optomization consulting... however that has to be on contract-monthly minimum for 2 or 3 year term.
I don't have time to bang nails anymore, but I was charging $75 for me, and between 39-90/hour for helpers-to-genius carpenters... depends on their experience and equipment and distance etc.
Rarely do I ever accept hourly/T&M jobs, I like bids or design/builds much better.
I'm in Ontario...
In my back woods town people can go out and hire a carpenter locally for 15-30/hour. That's it...typically.
Most of my contractors are charging out between 50-70/hour-but, like I said, they make more from bid jobs.

thanx to you all for your input.
whats the TO rate for carp paid & charged out
in my rural area about 250 miles east of you getting 30 $ for a man is tough enough but getting easier last few years
That all depends dude, whether the guy speaks english or not and is working for cash or not. Our government doesn't have a problem with only part of the population paying for roads and hospitals and government services-and allowing these cash workers to not bother paying comp or cpp. Add to that factoring that these "Cash" workers are making the cost of doing renovations artificially low, the poor legitimate renovators and carpenters in the Toronto area are being eaten alive. Most don't even understand what is happening.
There's about 30,000 illegals working in the construction biz in the Toronto area for 15-25$/hour cash. Noone can operate a profitable business charging that rate.
That's why we are building our network to do high end work. Those guys can't supply the service we do, thus, we don't have to compete with them.
I'm not bellyaching about the illegals here-we all have to eat. I'd just sooner see them given citizenship and pay taxes and level the playing field.

Here in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota
Im charging 55-65.00 and hour for general Handyman, construction work
Others are charging 80.00 And that guy is needing to expand his company too.
theres alot of work out there.
I always like to read these money and business posts. Helps me type a little harder, less worrying about how the total is gonna make the customer squeal. Thanks for your input and congrats on being able to bill out at that rate.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Boy I wish I could get customers to pay those heavy wages.
When doing t&m I charge $40.00/hr plus 10% for all expenses including additonal labour. My plumber charges $42.00/hr. my electrican charges $47.00/hr.
I guess I would charge more but customers are not lined up.
A fourty hour week can earn me about $1,800.00 but I wish I could do that every week.
