I have a metal (insullated) chimney which is enclosed in a wood box. The top of the box is plywood and is then covered with an aluminum “shoe box” type lid. What I can’t figure out is how to seal around the metal chimney where it passes thru the “showbox” lid.
Any ideas??

Usually, these chimney's come with special flashing made to fit perfectly. Check with the chimney mfr to find out what you need to order. Don't trust caulk to keep water out of anything.
*The flashing is called a rain collar and clamps tight on the chimney, sloping downward to cover the joint between the chase cap and the chimney.
