I have a whirlpool tub deck that I need to tile. The deck has a 45 degree corner in it on the one side. Only the top of the deck is to be tiled with GLASS accent tile. It’s an expensive ornamental-like tile that is basically thick glass with a bottom coating to give it color, in this case aqua color.
I’ve never had to tile a 45 degree corner before. How do you do it. Do you merely just have to cut tiles on a 45? If so doesn’t that leave an “unfinished”edge that won’t grout as well as regular finished edges? Also since this is glass tile what type of saw would I use? I presently have one of those tiny diamond coated blades but if that is not the best tool, what is?

Pyro, Hopefully a glass and tile expert will jump in.
I usually cut stone slabs and I find an electroplated diamond blade has the least chipping when I cut limestones like Crema Marfil. It would be my first try if I wanted to cut glass. Harbor freight sells them very cheap but I have never tried one of theirs. If cost isn't an issue I have been very happy with the blades I get from Pearl Abrasives.
If the edge needs to be radiused and polished I would look into getting either some progressively finer grits of silicon carbide sandpaper or some diamond polishing pads like stone fabricators use.
Good luck,
Karl
I'll betcha Boris Yeltsin will be along shortly to help you out.... he's the resident Grand Poobah of tile around here.
