How many times??

CAGIV | Posted in Tools for Home Building on July 1, 2003 08:31am

How many times can people put blue or red or orange or what ever color chalk into a chalk box that had white chalk in it?  Might there a speacial reason I might want a white chalk line, no I firggen guess not.

One would think that any reasonable half wit with half a mind towards anything related to construction would realize that if you have 2 chalk boxes and one of them is white and the other is a mix of past used red, blue, orange etc that they should probably not put another color in your damn white chalk box.

I was just transfering tools from my old bags to my new bags, and I have one purplish chalk box and one PINKISH RED!   3rd time in 4 months, someone is going to the store and buying me a new damn chalk box tomorrow.  Is it just me or is this BS?  I complained about it each time in the past and quite vocally the last, I’m sick of it

Sorry had to rant, I’m rather peeved by this

I just hate that, I really do, when I did survey as a kid we used blue for layout, white for first revision, and red for second revision - I really hated it when some carp borrowed a snapline and decided to refill with the first colour they found.

I like white mainly because it goes away really well, the others do not, If I'm cutting panel siding I use white, if I'm laying decking I use white to lay out lines for the screws or nails so they line up etc.

red, blue, orange, or the purplish mix of all of them won't work.

First time, no biggy it happens, second time maybe you didn't hear me, third time I was really pissed but it was a newer guy so I complained and made sure everyone knew why I was in a bad mood.

Tomorrow it's probably lucky for everyone that I am working solo maybe Wen.  I won't be so livid

on the brighter side I will now have an even half dozen chalk boxes, glad I just buy the 4 dollar ones.Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, Professionals built the Titanic.

Ya know, I'd think a real man like you would be secure enough in his manhood that the pink chalk wouldn't bother you...............(-:

So in other words the tools in question were not properly secured...lucky it was a co-worker and not a thief.

Took ya 3 times to learn this....:)

On the other hand, chalk lines are cheap. They could be ruining something of value. Smack 'em upside the head once or twice while you're talking to them. Gets their attention........

I'm over it and I have yet another white chalk box, I wrote white only on both sides and right by the opening

Maybe that will make it obvious enough, if not I may get violent :)

            Seriously though...

you're right, at least it's nothing expensive.

I have very little faith in most of mankind, but maybe they will at least ask what the writing is for if they can not read it lol

besides that I don't think we are hiring anyone new for a while and I made my feelings abundantly clear todayNever be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, Professionals built the Titanic.

CAG, rig up a chalk box so it sprays red chalk all over anybody who uses it.Mr T

Some body will change out the oringinal string to Dacron and fill it with concrete dye.

Might as well have a sharp clean line that last and last.

If I was on your crew I'd buy another chalk box like yours and write white only all over it and and put black chalk in it and leave it everywhere you so when you pick it up I could here you scream OHHHHHHH.Anyway at least they have the decency to put it back on my crew if they loose or break a c.box or tape measurer they go get one of mine and put their broken one in my tool box.

ANDYSZ2I MAY DISAGREE WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING BUT I WILL DEFEND TO THE DEATH YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT.
