Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
Depends on taper of the log and the sizes being cut and the kerf of the sawmill blade, and assuming there are no splits, stump pulls, windshake or other defects.
windshake? what is that?
The growth rings are separated by shear, usually in a tree bole subjected to frequent wind stresses; usually found in logs from trees that grew on the prevailing wind edge of a forest.
In a board, the growth rings are detached like a stack of cards and the board has no structural value....such defect is, or should be, removed during manufacture, but it shows up on occasion.
Anywhere from 60-130, depending on the log and the mill. Also assumes the 10" diameter is the small end, inside the bark.
My million-dollar log scanner would tell me the answer to that question, including exactly how to saw it, but it is on the blink!
