How to deck frame around a bay window
Hi
Can someone please give some ideas on how to frame a 12′ x 24′ deck around a bay window where the side frames are at an angle as opposed to being at right angles to the house.
Because of design restraints assume the beams have to be at right angles to the house [brick veneer dose not allow a ledger] and because the deck is too close to the ground the beams and joists will be in the same plane using joist hangers.
Hope you can help.

Set the posts out away from the house a bit and cantilever the framing over towards the house is what comes to my mind.
Of course, you can't cantilever if you're using hangers.
Depending on how big this bay is.........
There are angled hangers that may fit your angled ends. But first you run a beam between your perp. to the house beams. The your angled joists will run off of that back to the house. Essentially, you are installing a beam ledger up against the bay's long side. The angled joists do the same and are fastened at each end using the angled hanger.
So, depending on how big of a frame you need around that bay, you can use either a single or dble joist between the beams to build off of and back to the house.
man, that reads way too confusing. My apologies.

I'm glad you pulled something out of it. My eyes glazed over.
Think of it as that angled frame when you cut the corner off of a deck. Same thing. Make it and the connections strong enough to meet the loads presented.
