Anybody out there ever successfully removed 20 plus coats of “acrylic”??? floor polish from a “no wax” vinyl floor.
Gist of it it that my dad has been laying down “polish” on his “no wax” floor religiously twice a year for ten years, and it looks like crap. (10 years of embedded between the coats dirt). He spilled some unknown solvent/cleanser in an area, and it now looks like new.
A dozen thoughts come to mind as to what to try to use to strip it all off. What I’m looking for is a definitive answer for a product that will not harm the vinyl, but remove the 20 coats of “polish”. FWIW, lacquer thinner did work, but IMO is to hazardous.

But sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
Rez,
Thanks for the "bump"

Go to a janitorial supply house and buy a wax stripper or get one from HD. Rent a floor buffer with stripping pad and go at it. It usually dissolves even that many years of build-up.
