Hello,
I’m remodeling my kitchen and would like some advice on how to install an eating counter. Basically, there is a knee wall with the cooktop and counter on one side; the eating counter will go on the other side which is about 6 inches higher. The counter will be a laminate with a MDF substrate and about 10 feet long. The total width will be about 24 inches with about four inches of that resting on top of the knee wall. I definitely do not want to use posts to carry the load. Could I take some dimensional maple (to match the cabinets), double them up and make a nice curved brace? How many braces would I need and how do I secure them to the counter and knee wall? I would like to have a minimal (if any) screws or bolts showing. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks,
Jack

Check the cabinet manufacturer many have a bracket for this.
Also make sure that wall is tied in very well. That's alot of wieght and leverage on a knee wall. We try to through bolt 4x4's in the wall directly to the floor joists.
