Hi,
I picked up a Used Porter Cable Hinge Butt Template #5037 to rout hinges in doors. It has no instructions and is a bit confusing to figure out. It looks quite old. Does anyone know how to use, or know where to get an instruction sheet? I think I can figure it out, but it may take me a while.
thanks,
Stevo

belive they have a how to video too...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
There is a learning curve to using them. It might help to take a 2 X 4 and pretend it is the edge of a door. Go to an existing door and measure down from the top to the top and bottom of each hinge. Mark those measurements on the 2 x 4. Then try to set up the hinge templates so they correspond to them. It might help to lay out the three parts the router goes on top of first and then figure out the two connecting parts.
Good suggestions. Now I'll have to get out that old box with the template in it, the one that's been collecting dust for so many years, and give it a try. Might even get inspired to make up a few doors and jambs.
