I’m putting on a shingled roof. It’s about a 3 in 12 pitch.
How wide of metal flashing should I use under under the valleys?
thx.

Bitch the valleys at least 18" up both sides 24" metal centered is ok 30" is better then bitch at least 4" over metal with 18" strips a 3/12 pitch should be bitched completley but double 30 lb felt is acceptable your bundles will tell you what mfg recomends.
Thge width of the valley metal makes far less difference than how the shingles are laid to it. There are five methods of running a valley that I know of.
The biggest rule to follow is to never drive nails into the metal. That pokes a hole in it for water to follow.
I have never used wider than 20" meal for an open valley with a four inch drainage channel, and have done valley s well with an eigh inch wide metal also.
The bituthene or other back up is important with any method.
