Hello I live in SE Connecticut and don’t know which to install HRV or ERV, our area can go either way according to literature I have read. I was told by the GSHP contractor that I should use an HRV as I need to remove excess water vapor in the winter and it has a plastic core that the vapor will not affect. But in the same breath he said that it would not work well in the summer and he did not think it was worth the investment
Another HVAC contractor I know said to use good bath exhaust fans and wire them to control a motorized damper (to bring in outside air into the return of the HVAC ducts) and run the HVAC fan. Any thoughts on this???

The Taunton insulation book has a section on this....He says low-cfm bathroom fan is okay provided "implicit" air intake points are okay....Or rig the air handler.... See my thread on vented->unvented attics....
