Am looking to buy a HVLP system to spray stain & lacquer on doors and trim. Read a review that rated the Wagner 4 stage 2900 pretty high. Anyone had any experience with it, or would recommend another brand?

those 2 sites should give you all the info you need
I have a Wagner (Capspray) 2600. 3 stage.
Couldn't pass up the deal I got on it at the time. And satisfaction guaranteed or your money back thru this dealer at the time.
No problems, no regrets and even shoots latex very nicely.
Accuspray is top quality stuff. I'm sure you wouldn't regret that either. I've sprayed with their HVLP conversion guns for many years.
If you haven't used HVLP turbine equipment before, it's a little more demanding on the operator. Viscosity, tip set and air flow adjustments are more critical than shooting HP or airless. But once you get the hang of it....you're home free.
Edit to say: If this is your first turbine outfit, practice first by spraying just solvent (mineral spirits, maybe) or water....better yet, both of those. That'll help you understand how varying your particular gun's adjustments and the air flow effects the outbound result. Once that's all second nature....try your first batch of lacquer on test material.
(I prefer non-bleeder guns.)
