Today I went over to install drywall in the basement apartment of the restaraunt that belongs to my friend the retired contractor. he was open til 2 today so we ordered the drywall for delivery at 2 and I was having a coffee talking to him for a few minutes. as we were talking another friend of his came in who is a painter. seems he had a dilemna. he had two 2x12x24′ that he needed planed down to 1″ and 1 1/8″ with the one inch board to be ripped to 4″. he was painting a porch and replacing the rotted trim work. so I told him I could do it for him, I’d just have to run home and get the saw and planer. he was real happy and said sure. so I went and got my tools and came back and we zipped his stuff through without a hitch. I got a good buck for it too seeing as I was playing “mills on wheels” for him. he said now that he knows where he can get stuff like this done to expect alot of calls from him. but it gets better. as I’m planing away another friend of theirs rolls up and sees me going at it. he starts talking to them and they called me over. this guy’s a custom builder who is in the market for some good subs. these guys were telling him how good I was and what a can do, positive attitude I had. so he gets a business card and hopefully this too will pan out. anyway I made a few more bucks than expected today just by being in the right spot at the right time. having a monday like this definitely made me feel good.
