Well, this past week the tile installers did their thing. I’m not a tile person in the sense I know a good, bad, or ugly end result, and if I were to voice a bad opinion every labels me ‘high maintenance’. So, I’ll leave it to ya’ll to decide.

Looks pretty good from here -- level, flat, even margins & joints. Not my color choice, but that's kinda personal.
I don't know.............
if I like the rampant pattern in that kind of tile...............
but the important thing:
What does your wife think?
She picked the tile out. She likes how it turned out and the installer will probably be used again to do the living and dining rooms. The 20" tile you see in the family room was $2.99/SqFt on closeout. The total for materials and labor was $2500 for 270 SqFt. I'm wondering if I can get anywhere where near that cost per foot on 3/4" hardwood with at least 5" planks and something other than oak.
That's a big room.
span ok for the joists, or by any chance-on slab? I know you've mentioned having a basement.
I wouldn't say that at 6 bucks a sf, the install was much of a "deal" even including cement board.
If not a cut up room, 3.00 plus the cost of the prefinished flooring would be a decent guess on HW.
But that's up here in NW Oh.
Heck, $2500 is more than Junkhound spent on his house!
His house, maybe, but certainly not more than his collection of "strategic reserves"!

I think I see verticle and horizontal pattern that seem to be bunched up here and there. At this point, however, I would leave it and not mention it to your wife. For next job, keep the pattern in mind. Hope it helps.
It seems normal from here. I dont think there is any problem with that. Color is ok - ok. But color doesnt matter alot the interior should be good.
What?

there's a 'grain' in the pattern - iffen I wuz doing it, I'd run the grain all the same direction -
gawd, this is clunky software -
And I'd strive to have it random.
as you see fit - I can't decide if what nuke ended up with is actually random - I see a lot of 4X pattern -
doesn't look bad, and it is a floor, which will likely have a bunch of stuff setting on it, obscuring the big picture -
I understand the pattern thing
I just didn't understand the post I replied to.
Seems like that guy from Arizona-but his link was of the UK.
Maybe he moved.
At anyrate-I was asking for him to clarify what the heck he was taling about.
repectfully of course.
Unless it was the guy from Arizona.
