Hey all, I need some pictures that I can show a client of examples of troffer beams? On the prints a 9 piece crown base build up was shown and now he wants to go with a timber look. Does anyone out there have a picture of a troffered ceiling done with solid beams? I was even thinking about using a gluelam well approx 300 lf of them then theres the task of getting a 5×9 inch beam tight against a plastered ceiling. I dont think trim would compliment this look. on another thought does anyone else string their felt on the roof? I string every course and the perimeter stapleing it down and shingle right over it.
thanks all

What do you mean by "stringing felt"? I can only guess, and I use a chaulk line for that.

I THINK stringing the felt is way of attaching it..staple down the string and it holds the edges from flying up in the wind, before ya get the shingles slapped on..
I've used plaster lathe yrs. ago..1 1/2 x1/4" x48" to hold it down temp. saves all them nails on the seams..this was before Plastic caps..waaaay back.

Boss Hog here likes that trick of using string and staples to felt down.
I'm not sure of the definition of troffered beams. Are you making a trimed out coffered ceiling?
I do have a photo using some Fypon molded false beams but can't find it. Must be misfiled.

Check out this picture gallery for some inspiration. Also, in the book Finish Carpentry, gary explains a method for coffered ceilings w/built up beams. I'm sure a recent issue of eith FHB or JLC featured an article by him on the subject.
