Hello,
Putting three Halo H7ICT cans in a hallway. Running across the 2×8 ceiling joists is a 2 foot wide plywood catwalk for attic access. I’ve been using 2″ rigid insulation (R-14.4) under the catwalk with 5 1/2″ fiberglass below that (R-21) – the rest of the house is 9 1/2″ fiberglass (R-30).
My plan is to cut a round hole in the rigid insulation for the top of the cans. The top of the cans will be about 1/8″ from the underside of the plywood. I know I will have three warm spots in the attic, but my main concern is having the can so close to the wood.
Are the ICT cans safe in contact with wood?

You're likely limited to 75W with those cans and insulation, about 250 btu's max. I think it's OK, given that they are rated for direct contact with insulation. But you could call Halo and ask them, it would only be a 5 minute phone call once you got through to the tech guys.
Could you use the shorter H27 so you don't compromise your insulation? Or the smaller diameter H99 with 50R20 bulbs?
Ed
You will not be creating a hazard here IMHO.
