I’ve just finished having my fireplace built in stone. I’m planning to put a wood top on it. The fireplace is 5.5 ft wide and about the same high, 16 inches deep. I’ve got plenty of clearance from combustibles ect. I was hoping for some ideas on a moulding to wrap around the plywood top. So Far I’ve thought maybee piece of 1×4 run underneath of my plywood topper with maybee a bullnose at the top of the 1×4 and a 1.5 in. chair rail at the bottom or maybee a 1/4 up from the bottom.

I can't remember how to put pics on my page, I've got the stone finished and the wood top on it I ended up using 3/4 maple painted white and a sample of very heavy(chunky) crown mould under the ply, I'm satisfied with the look for now. I've got some more pieces of trim to add to it yet to get the look down. Almost there. I've got to put a new cap on my chimney before I can hook up the vent anyways so it's not a huge rush. I've got a few weeks before the weather is ready for out door concrete. If you know how to post pics let me know and I'll send some pics.
