Ideas/tips for building doors for garage opening
I’m building a garage for myself. It’s been on my to-do list for the better part of the last ten years. I have the shell up and completed. Now I have one door that is 10′ x 10′ and 7 feet beside that door is another at 8’x8′. I am interested in building doors out of 2×4 eastern white cedar for the framing. ISO Foam board for insulation and tongue and groove eastern white cedar for the exterior finish to complement the white pine board and batten siding of the building.
I am also thinking of framing in some basement windows into the doors to let in some light and ventilation if need be. This is just my idea for two swing out doors for each garage opening.
Just spit balling here, wondered what kind of doors can be built for an opening of that size and just general ideas.

How are you planning on supporting and opening these doors?
(Hint, think light and stiff first, not pretty. You can dress up a plain design better than you can patch up a pretty one.)

check out the blog or whatever it's called on The Project House-seems to me they built the doors to the garage shop. There might be some info there.
It's actually written up in the current issue of FHB!
