Take a look at the attached.
Shown is a group of arch-top transom windows sitting atop a row of windows and a door. The radius of the R.O.s top is 21′-5″.
My supplier’s guy inquired this yesterday to Andersen, and the boys of Bayport flat turned it down. It seems as if the experts up at “America’s window company” haven’t learned to do a big R curved top on a custom, saying that something like 16 feet is their max.
Inquire it to Andersen’s KMR unit? No thanks, says I, we’re still saving up for our new LearJet.
So I right away posted a much broader RFQ, getting specs out to Marvin, Pella, Pozzi, Kolbe, Windsor, Bonneville, and someone else I cannot remember. No replies yet.
If you know your biz about getting customs like this, tell us, who can we expect to make a can-do response and quote?

Pozzi is now Jeld Wen. I've seen windows similar to your idea. Made by Norco, which is also now Jeld Wen. Go to the horse's mouth?
gene,
Pella advertizes they are extremely big on custom windows.
Jarrett ?
I believe Norco or Marvin can handle that

Excellence is its own reward!
Is Marvin making them or subing them out? I know they used KML till Andersen bought them. They also stopped warrentying any unit they sold made by KML, at least in my area.
don't know how they deliver it, just know they have done me all kinds of custom configurations

Andersen is not a "custom" window manufacturer- they just pretend to be. You should have no problem getting that window setup from Marvin, Pella, Pozzi or any of the other true custom window manufacturers.
One concern is that the spacing between the windows seems pretty narrow. On a unit that size, I'm thinking you may end up with some steel in there to carry some of the wind load back to the structure, or you're going to need to widen the intermediates to get more wood/engineered lumber in there.

Gene:
I believe that Marvin will do them but It'll cost you a bunch. I've had great luck with Marvin, and their warranty service is awesome, but the price usually sets my customers back on their heels.
Andersen doesn't do any custom work at all.
BILL
Marvin will do it. Had a similar one some years ago and Marvin does fine custom work. I have had good luck with them
Regardless of who makes it or will make it compare and have a written warrenty on specifically what is and isn't covered. Assuming custom units carry the same warrenty as stock may not be a risk your insurance company is willing to take.
A warrenty that states:
"Special glass or glazings" are specifically excluded would make me worry.
That is nothing....
I work at a window and door disty in Colorado.
We do custom stuff every day from Marvin, Eagle, and etc.
Call Eagle Window and Door.
http://www.eaglewindow.com/index.cfm
I know Eagle can, but their nearest dealer is a four hour drive from here.
Might be worth the trip, though, if the price is right.
Just a guess... but bet you don't know who owns eagle.... ;-)
Masco used to, then someone else, then someone else. Linsalata Capital Partners, Cleveland, OH, a private equity company, bought then in '02.
Don't know who has them now.
A while back when I had first joined ThermaTru, the owners had a little tiff with the hired-gun president, who after his firing, got picked up by Eagle to run them.
Here's a guess. ThermaTru owns Eagle. They musta found each other on match-dot-com.
Gene, Marvin can do anything.I can refer you to a place done a few years ago, where Marvin did "anything" for $383K.You draw it, you pay them they'll build it.Mongo
Anderson bought Eagle. Eagle was started in Dubuque Iowa, one of our "local" window companies.I was going to mention them, but haven't used any custom windows from them as yet.

Try Rochester Colonial - also not close to Lake Placid but they do advertise their custom manufacturing ability. A friend that used to work there did a lot of the custom units with both round and elliptical tops like you are looking for.
PS - how cold is Lake Placid this morning (Sun)? Rochester is 12...
Thanks for the window lead.
I was planning to ski this morning, but it's barely climbed above the minus 19 it was when I walked the dog earlier.
Gene, You could check out Interpane also. They make custom window glass that you can fit into your own jambs. I'm not sure if they make the whole window as a unit.scott
