The cabinets will be 5 inches from the ceiling and have a trim and crown moulding on the top extending from the wall cabinet to the ceiling. Since I am renovating my kitchen, the drywall has been removed and I have the ability to run romex cable anywhere.
My question:
Is it ok to place the transformer on top of the cabinets in the 5″ of space I have and seal it in behind the crown moulding?
If this is ok, I assume it should be hardwired and not plugged into a new recepticle in this small space right?
Thanks for any help

Do not place the transformer in an inaccessible place. Find a spot in one of the non glass doored cabs adjacent to where the pucks are going and fasten (usually come with holes) the transformer there. Run your wire up from that and over and through the top of the glass doored cab. Wire and mount the pucks.
I put pucks both on top and up from the bottom in the last kitchen I did. Filled the whole cab with light, no shadows to speak of.

Hate to recommend it, but HD has low voltage puck lights with built in transformers. You can direct wire them. I think I paid 30 for three.
Don't think they are xenon....
