I am looking at buying an older house that has an indoor spa/hottub installed in the basement. The concrete floor has been raised above the basement slab and a spa with coping and tile exists down to about 4-5 feet deep. Am planning on getting rid of it but am not sure of the best method( demo, remove, fill and pour new slap or leave in place and pour. Am worried this will turn into major nightmare. Appreciate any comments from folks who have delt with something similar.

Quick question: if you've not made an offer on the house already, why not get a few estimates from local (wherever you are) contractors for the work you're talking about, and then factor that cost into the price you bid for the house?

Why? is it bad? I'd rethink and maybe keep it..unless ya can't swim, then just filler up with clean fill and slab on top.
