Hey there people!
Good to be back, been awhile. I’ll come to the point. I recently perused a potential new-construction basement that is slated for finishing off. Included in the space was a “rough-in” for a potential powder room. Unfortunately, it was located in a very awkward location, severely limiting the potential design of the whole area. Further, the decisions at the rough-in left us with a 3-inch waste in a really dumb location, (2) two-inch holes (one for output to the main waste trunk, one for a lav drain), and the well for what could only have ended up being a chopper type sump pump. When this rough-in was described completely to the homeowners, they were-to say the least-disappointed. As conversations began to evolve I knew-and confessed openly-that we were leaving my forte’ as a design-build-carpenter. One of the things is that the in-slab nature of the obstacle is so intimidating, and seemingly so limiting for a design evolution.
So, I was wondering, do they make a “rear discharging” toilet for residential designs, that would allow more flexibility in this on-slab design scenario? Or, should I not be so shy (or deferring to others obviously) about putting a different rough-in exactly where it should go, and just feel less foreign about cutting up a new slab?
Any further consideration on this behalf is appreciated.

I'd get a bid from my plumber to locate the drain where they want it and then go from there.

Depending on design restrictions, Zoeller makes a tank/pump unit for above the slab installation. Means incorporating a 6" step up to get to the throne, but if you have the head room it can be make for an interesting design. I put one in my inlaws basement 7 years ago and have had no problems with it. I'll try to post a picture if I can find the digital camera.

Thanks for the response, is there an address for the commode that you mentioned??
Any other options from all is still appreciated.

It would be the same address as the house.

Have a plumber fix it. You can bust the floor easy enough, and you're probably less per hour than the plumber. Get him over there, have a look, take a bid, run with it.

Yes, but choices are somewhat limited (May only be available in white and is somewhat elongated). I know because I have one. Mine is an Eljer, but I'm sure there are other brands. Ask at your plumbing supply house or browse the manufacturers websites.
