All,
I need to convert a carport to a bedroom. In order to do so the flooring in the carport needs to be at the same level as the floor in the house. As of now there is a 14″ difference. My question: What is the best method to equalize the two floors?
I have considered LVLs, joists in some combination & post & beam.
Thanks in advance,

is the floor pitched?
The carport floor has a slight grade toward the front of the house. There is an approx height diff between the front & back of the garage of 2".

The undisciplined life is not worth examining.
What is the best method to equalize the two floors?
Depends (like all the answers to life's question, huh?)
Question, what are the non-house perimeters of the carport like? Two walls, three?
Probably, the simplest thing will be to make a very short stud "wall" that frames in the entire space to the elevation needed for the new floor joists. Remembe that you can "shorten the span" with an intermediate foundation "wall" or two, too.
Alternately, lay down PT against the slab, then scribe non-treated to match the elevations you need. I'm trying to help you not have to enjoy the process of making long rip cuts in PT, is my goal.
Put a preasure treated 2x6 at the high end double it at the low end with a rip of half inch plywood in the middle, then run 2x12's,that will give you 13 inches and with two sheets of half inch cdx your there.
If it's a true carport it's unlikely it has a perimeter foundation wall/footings ... or have you already checked? Most (open) carports are turned-down slab ... *may* not be adequate for exterior walls.
