Wow - that's a great title you put on your thread! Real descriptive.
Re your question, 1) read the directions. Here is the link. http://www.jameshardie.com/homeowner.htm
2) use the search function here at BT. The topic has been discussed here a bizillion times.

Matt--thanks for the link---humor is always appreciated--Mark
A bit more info: Cutting: electric FC siding shears, regular skill saw with blade specifically made for the purpose or regular carbide blade for just 1 or 2 cuts, or they do make dust collection skill saws that are specifically for the purpose. I have even made a single cut with just a utility knife. If you use a power saw, wear breathing protection.
Nailing: pnematic nailing is best. It is difficult to hand drive siding nails as they tend to bend although if you have to install only a few pieces it works OK. Use galvanized nails. SS if you have money to waste. Use a roofing gun or siding gun. 1 3/4" min nail length. I have even used a framing gun with 10p HD nails although you need to adjust it so that it doesn't drive the nails down all the way and then finish them off with a regular hammer.
