I am looking for recommendations on installing a mahogany t&g floor on a 10’ deep x 28’ wide covered porch on a new home being built in Connecticut. The joists were set 16†on center perpendicular to the house so I am planning on running the floor parallel. I have been looking at a 1×6 t&g mahogany to be finished with either a wax or oil finish. I heard once of using 5/8 PT plywood as an underlayment to add strength and ease installation but I am concerned with moisture between layers. Does anyone have recommendations as to the best technique for laying a mahogany t&g porch such as this?

Source control, ventilation, and filtration are the keys to healthy indoor air quality. Dehumidification is important too.
