Is it possible to replace a double hung window unit with minimal interior damage to a finished room? It’s a long story, but I completely renovated a bedroom and I’m having a huge problem with the windows.

yes.....but not over the internet!
all depends on the specific situation...as there may be quite a few different...yet correct...ways of handeling this.
Carefully remove any trim as needed........install a replacement window from the interior......retrim with original...or match.........
or......
work from the outside and install a new const. window leaving the original interior trim untouched.......
or........
work from the outside and install a replacement window.....working back towards ya......
or........any number of combinations...........
I do know what would work.........and that would be calling a capable remodeling carpenter ....and pay their price and enjoy a job well done.
