I need to install a handrail on a staircase leading to our downstairs. It’s just a wall mounted one, so no newel posts (sp?) or anything like that. It does, however, have a 90 degree turn as it goes down (the stairs twist down & to the right as you are going down). 2 questions:
1) Can anyone recommend a good online source for wooden railings? My local sources have a very limited selection, & none of them are what I’m looking for.
2) Does anyone know of a book or other source that describes how to make the cuts for the downward turn to the right which will transition to the “straight” part?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

depending on what fitting you buy it may come with instructions.
*L.J.Smith stair part are good. Brosco is another.Depending on the profile that you use, I have found that transitioning from the stair pitch to a right angle is easier if you make a level transition and then your .90.Most stairs are about32% so a16% mitershould get you in the ballpark for the cut at the stair bottom, then a mating piece 16%with a 90% right angle at the opposite end.
