I have built a timberframe, enclosed it with SIP’s and plan to finish the exterior with pine board and batten. I am using Andersen windows. I was planning on installing the windows proud of the SIP’s by 1 3/4″ (3/4” strapping and 1” pine boards) to allow the battens and trim to be flush with the windows. Another carpenter said they install the windows so that the boards are flush and simply let the battens fall where they may (they don’t install any additional trim around the windows). What are the options for installing windows with board and batten siding?
