Insul. ? Regal says no VB, need foam
Hi all,
<!—-> <!—-><!—->
Some particulars:
<!—-> <!—->
Renovation. 2X6 cathedral rafters (steep 18/12 pitch), mixed climate (New Jersey)
<!—-> <!—->
Was planning to dense-pack cellulose (no vent) and then cover with foam to get to R-30, fur and hang rock.
<!—-> <!—->
Regal Industries says their “official position is that no vapor barriers are to be purposely installed in a home insulated with our products.â€
<!—-> <!—->
The foam is going to act as a VB – no?
<!—-> <!—->
Thought about “Mooney wall†technique with horizontal 2X furring, but I don’t understood how you dense-pack with all of the unsealed cavities.
<!—-> <!—->
Can anyone help?

And Regal makes what?
happy?
Sorry - I should have been clearer. Regal makes cellulose insulation.
Here's a link to their recommendations:

That certainly is counter to conventional wisdom, and may be in conflict with some building codes.
If ignorance is bliss why aren't more people
happy?
