I am designing an addition to my house using Concrete Masonry Units. The house is located in Massachusetts.
The issue I’m dealing with is how to attach exterior insulation and clapboard siding to the structure.
In Issue 285 of FHB, there is a how-to article that describes how to attach the insulation, furring strips, and then clapboard to the wall. See https://www.finehomebuilding.com/project-guides/insulation/insulating-an-uninsulated-block-wall-home
My question is, “What other techniques can be used to attach the foam board and clapboard?”

David

Have you looked into ICF’s? With those you would get insulation and a form in one. There’s a screw flange you could attach furring strips and siding on top.
