I am helping a friend redo a converted garage. I was originally done 30 some years ago. We have torn out the ceiling, walls and floor. The room is roughly 12 X 20. We plan on using regular fiberglass in the walls and ceiling. What would be a good choice for the floor? It will be sitting on the old concrete. The floor is built up 2×8.

As far as the R rating goes, I know up here in Mich. you would want to place a min. R-21. I would be a leary of using any insulation with the paper backing because of possible moisture infiltration from the slab. I would check with the energy code for your state to find out a minimum R value and then take it from there.
