insulating a vaulted ceiling in log home

We have just purchased a partialy built log home in central Alberta and we need to insulate and seal the roof. The ceiling is vaulted over the main living area and the rooms on the second floor are flat ceiling with slanted walls and dormers. There are no ceiling boards installed yet. What type of insulation should be used and can the same be used in the dormer window areas as well? I appriciate any suggestions or advice!

Insulating a vaulted ceiling in a cold climate isn't easy. The log home aspect makes it trickier still. Probably the best approach is to fasten foam over the top of the roof sheathing, but you really should consult with local log home experts.

Rigid foam insulation is the very best way to insulate a clear story vault. Eagle Panel Systems has the right system for you, from nailbase insulation to clear span, T&G clad structural insulations panels.
