Hi, I would like to insulate the joist bays where they meet the rim joist in my basement. I am concerned that fiberglass insulation will trap moisture in the humid new england summers. I considered, and would prefer, to use an expanding foam product (icyenine, sp?) but they won’t come to your house unless the job is $1200 +! That’s a lot of money. I was considering using 2″ blueboard insulation. The joist bay is 14.5″ x 9.25″ I could cut each piece 1″ short of each dimention, and use the caned expanding foam to get a good air / moisture tight seal and hopefully provide the nessecary insulation as well as not trap moisture and rot my rim joist. Any thoughts or feedback?

Google for Tiger Foam, the DIY way to do more than a little bit of foam.
