If you can afford it it's the greatest thing since sliced bread! Stops the drafts dead.
house must be warm when spraying in winter or product can shrink back
Should be isolated/covered by firerock and not left exposed wherer sparks or fire can attach it.
Have wireing roughed in first and tape boxes over - some spray installers mask good and others don't.
cielings can be a pain. I've hung rock first and sprayed from above. I've sprayed to the roof sheathing. I've also put up thermax (foil coated foam board) and strapping @16" OC to let him spray from above(so the sheeetrocker didn't have to come twice and because the moisture and expansive nature of the product can cause 1/2" SR to sag when on 24" centers)
The pure urethene is a little bit structural for stiffening and tightening up old houses.
One thing to watch out for is that it makes a home for carpenter ants etc. The Corbond brand adds a boron or something to discourage them from moving in. I thnk the icythene does too though I haven't used it.
Talk to your installer first when taking prices about details. Some guys just spray the large spaces. Most totally quote on insulating the house which includes small cans of low expansion around the doors and windows, masking where needed, scraping the excess off stud edges and clean up.
If you have a crawl space, discuss whether you want it sprayed, walls or under the floor.
Set up and cleanup can be expensive so plan on having everthing ready for him when you call and not bringing himn back in to redo or finish because of something you forgot. You could end up with a very irrate installer and a large surcharge added on.
