Hello again, another question…. want to insulate the basement walls with r-13 kraft faced insulation. Thought I left enough air space between the block walls and the stud wall at least an 1″ in some place but the wall were so out of square it varies. Anyway went to install the insulation (side stable) and saw that in some places its touching the block. My concern is that the wall could become damp and the fiberglass will wick this moisture up.
Should I?
A) not insulate
b) use the plasic encapsulated stuff
c) face nail to give more room between the insulation and block (not the way i perfer to do it since its makes drywalling more difficult).
d) just give up and adveriste the house with a partially finished basement ( the bathroom is done (no doors, trim and paint yet) the walls and electrical (including cable and telephone are are also done.
By the way anybody make it to the national home show in Toronto Canada and see Mike Holmes? I am from Pennsylvania but went cause my gf thought Debbie Travis was gonna be there yesterday (Saturday)
Thanks Dan

Around these parts we are told by the inspectors to use 15 pound felt from grade level to floor to protect the insulation from moisture coming through the walls. If you are using wood studs staple it to the wall before you stand it up. If you want a straight wall that will stay straight use steel studs. Then you have to use nailing strips directly to the concrete block to staple the felt paper to. In my own house I used foundation coating on the inside of the block, it stunk for a week but after 8 years it still going strong.
Have a good day
