Ugly as sin, and doesn't seem that cheap. But worth watching.
Very ugly, looks like the elevator shaft down to where they clone stuff.
coupla years ago I toured a modular home plant.
they weren't building anothing that'd be considered "mobile" as the article implied.
the salesmen took us to his house ... the only modular in a typical residential plan ...
it was impossible to "find". Looked like every other stick built ...
and that was their point.
avis homes, btw. Nice stuff.
They could "modular" pretty much any plan you took them, aside from offering buying off the rack.

There's definitely a dissonance between the house and that big box thing.
We have a modular home plant 4 miles away ( Guildcrest homes )
they can build any home you bring your own plans for
The modules arrive on trailers and are hoisted onto the foundation using a 100 ton crane , after which they are zipped up as they say
I sold the modular company 10 lots so i got to see the delivery operation numerous times
I dont find their prices cheaper for their energy efficient certified homes compared to stick built when the whole thing is said & done
I quit dealing with them becaue i found them a lot like used car salesmen & you had to nail their feet to the floor to keep them honest , not my style !
I was my own sub for a clayton modular last year. Did an ICF perimeter foundation, 3" rat slab and a conditioned crawlspace.
